When we start working on any house extensions, we ask our clients a few simple questions:

  • Have you engaged an architect?
  • Have you involved a structural engineer?
  • Do you have planning permission?

If you’re not quite at this stage, we are very happy to refer you to one of our trusted associates.

We work closely with architects and structural engineers who will create plans for the perfect house extension, whether you want it in wood, timber-framed or brick; at the back, side or front of the house; a single or double storey extension.

They will also guide you through the planning process to ensure all the necessary permissions are in place.

It’s at this point that the JMW team can become fully involved. We offer a turnkey service, personally carrying out your house extension from start to finish.

We’re involved from the beginning, which may entail demolishing existing outbuildings or garages to make room for an extension.

Then we handle every stage of the project, throughout the building phase, and engaging trades.

We’ll fit any bathrooms and kitchens required, fully decorate to a superior standard and professionally clean the extension and the site from top to bottom before we hand you the keys. We can even landscape the grounds for you.

How much will my house extension cost?


At JMW, we work with clients on larger house extensions, which start at around £100,000. Our projects have included: 

  • A large side extension in Wiltshire which involved removing outbuildings and garages, to create a new double garage with living space above. To the rear, the kitchen was extended, creating a large kitchen-diner. 
  • Another Wiltshire project entailed removing internal walls, including load-bearing walls, and creating a large, open-plan space with living accommodation, utility and bathroom. We also reconfigured the garage into a granny annexe.
  •  We removed several sheds to create a two-story extension which provided a games room, large lounge area and four sliding doors to look out on to the garden. A master bedroom and large en suite were created upstairs, while downstairs the cloakroom was reconfigured into a bathroom.
